Official Announcement: Passing of Bambang Irawan
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Bambang Irawan, Ph.D., S.E., who left us on Sunday, 3 May 2026 at the age of 56.
Bambang was a valued member of our programme and a respected colleague across the ASEAN region. Throughout his tenure, he made meaningful contributions to our work and fostered strong professional relationships with partners and teams across ASEAN Member States. His dedication, professionalism, and collaborative spirit have left a lasting impact on our programme and the wider regional community.
Among his most notable positions, Bambang served as Assistant Director and Head of the Finance Integration Division at the ASEAN Secretariat, and as Deputy Chief of Party for the USAID-funded IGNITE Project. He also held a PhD in Economics and Econometrics from Monash University, reflecting his long-standing commitment to regional development and public service.
Most recently, Bambang served as ASEAN Engagement Lead for the Financial Services Pillar under the FCDO-funded ASEAN–UK Economic Integration Programme — a role he held until his passing.
Bambang will be remembered not only for his accomplishments, but also for his warmth, integrity, and commitment to excellence. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all colleagues who had the privilege of working with him.
He will be deeply missed and may he rest in peace.
