Supporting ASEAN’s Journey Towards Inclusive Trade
More than 60 representatives from government, the private sector, business associations, and MSMEs gathered in Phnom Penh on 16–17 June 2026 for the Outreach Programme on the Upgraded ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA) and Trade Facilitation Initiatives.
This marked the first ATIGA outreach workshop held in Cambodia.
Delivered through the Open Trade Pillar (OTP), the programme supports ASEAN's efforts to reduce non-tariff barriers, strengthen regulatory coherence, and advance digital trade across the region.
The session opened with key messages from Alpana Roy and Director Rithymony Uy for a shared commitment for Cambodia and ASEAN to an open, inclusive and rules-based trading system able to adapt to evolving regional and global challenges. For the UK and the British Embassy Phnom Penh, the event marked a continued dialogue and cooperation, which are essential to ensure that trade commitments deliver real and tangible benefits for businesses and citizens.
Across two days of discussions, participants explored how the Upgraded ATIGA can unlock greater regional opportunities through:
-) Enhanced Rules of Origin and self-certification processes
-) Digital trade and customs modernisation measures
-) ASEAN trade facilitation tools, including the ASEAN Single Window, ASSIST, dispute resolution mechanisms, and the ASEAN Tariff Finder
-) Stronger public-private collaboration to help businesses—particularly MSMEs—access regional markets more effectively
Thank you to all our speakers, participants, and partners for driving the discussions and partnerships that will help businesses make the most of regional trade opportunities.
